Sussane, 34 years old, diagnosed with PCOS, read her her story below
I found out I had PCOS. PCOS is the part of PCO when you receive symptoms in your late 20’s. I had previously seen many gynaecologists who had all been unable to find the cause of my issues with embarrassing facial hair, overweight, irregular menstruation, unwanted hair growth on my stomach, and difficulty getting pregnant. At last tests showed that I had blisters on my ovaries which indicated PCOS. In the beginning I was receiving treatment at “SÖS hospital”, and later at “Karolinska hospital” where I was very pleased with my treatment. As a result of PCOS, my testosterone levels were higher than normal so I received pills with oestrogen to balance out my hormone levels. I have also been taking “Diane” which is a contraceptive pill that helps gain a normal menstruation cycle. When I was diagnosed the doctors recommended I receive diathermy treatment at the expense of the city council. When I began my treatment at Leila’s clinic I had a lot of hair and needed treatment twice a week. later on my treatment was reduced to once a week and now I only go once a month for upkeep which I finance myself.
When I was younger I used to pluck the hairs from my face and belly with a tweezer but now I don’t need to do that anymore and my skin has showed significant improvement since I abandoned the tweezer!
